We
are protected by a landscape of stars and planets that lay above the
prairie land. We connect with the cosmos and experience the wonderful
universe, after we finish our chores. Our great-grandparents and the
natives of this land and their forebears hundreds of generations ago
saw that the milky way was brighter than it is now.
They
planted by the moon and got their chores done before sunrise. After
sunset they sat on their porch and gazed at the stars and planets.
They told stories, had bonfires, made quilts, sang songs and drank
sweet tea, while they made stargazing a pleasure without the
distraction of city life.
They knew the phenomena of the
galaxy much better than we do, and found themselves spiritually
enriched without the dogma of the modern day. They didn't have to
think about it, they lived with the celestial wonder, and marveled at
the handiwork of their Maker.
Here in the heart of the dove we
long, once again, for the awareness our forebears had of the morning
star, and the evening star. We see the stars as a broad highway and
know that we are a grain of sand in the heavenly matrix.
We are of the Heartland and our hearts beat deep for the enrichment of our earth.
Come visit me in the prairie land sometime, get gonged and dance by the light of the moon.
